Eligibility Criteria (Revised 3/10/2008)
Application for this scholarship is open to Latino students residing in the Greater Danbury area (Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield). A “Latino” is defined as any person, at least one of whose parents and/or grandparents were born in any of the recognized Spanish speaking countries, or territory of the US, and who identify with what is commonly accepted as the“Latino culture”. Additionally:
- An applicant will have graduated from (or anticipate graduating) from an accredited high school.
- Applicant shall anticipate enrollment in a U.S. college or university.
- Applicant will be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Applicant will fill out the enclosed application form, providing all the information requested.
- Applicant will be responsible for providing proof required by the application form (i.e. IRS Forms (W-2s,W-1040, SSA-1040), for family, self, etc.) (Transcripts) or any other information requested by the Selection Committee. {Financial information may be forwarded separately to the P.O. Applicants will be evaluated by the Selection Committee and interviews are required, to determine eligibility, based in part upon:
- Financial Need
- Academic standing and/or potential
- Character and Integrity
- Involvement in the Community

Amount of awards shall be determined based upon relative need and availability of funds.
Decisions of the Selection Committee shall be final.
